The Web3 Domain Alliance is a member-led coalition devoted to improving the technological and public policy environments for users of Web3 naming services. Recently, the alliance announced 52 new members including Blockchain.com, Rarible, Wyre, Bitdegree, WazirX and Klever among dozens of other projects and companies.
Unstoppable Agrees Not To Assert Patents
As part of their commitment to support development in digital identity technology in Web3, founding member Unstoppable Domains has agreed not to assert against Alliance members its patents that are necessary for them to adopt the Alliance’s interoperability and security standards. This is an important step towards fostering innovation and safety in the industry as a whole.

Members of the Web3 Domain Alliance will discuss topics such as consumer protection, interoperability of blockchain naming systems, fair use of intellectual property in the industry, preventing name collisions and more. Recently Metascan deprecated their NFT top-level domain in order to avoid name collisions which shows how seriously this issue is taken by participants in this space.
