NETWORKING
& VISIBILITY |
People
join the GBTC for many reasons, but often the biggest reason is
the simplest: the chance to meet other people. It's amazing how
often our members find customers, partners, suppliers and employees
through GBTC programs. Not only that, but those in the loneliest
of positions - an entrepreneur growing a business or an "intrepreneur"
making changes in a traditional company - can find camaraderie with
others facing the same business issues. And if you're looking for
more publicity, we can offer some guidance and hopefully, help your
company effectively address the media and find other ways to raise
your profile.
- Business
Growth Committee
\\A MEMBERS ONLY benefit\\
The Business Growth Committee drives many of the issues at the
very heart of our mission: the programs, events and opportunities
that will spur the growth of our tech community. Examples of programs
initiated by this Committee include: Executive Roundtables, the
Digital Bridge Initiative and Mosh Pit.
- GBTechNet
\\A MEMBERS ONLY benefit\\
GBTechNet is a networking group that is specifically geared toward
business development. There are several small groups of non-competing
companies (12 to 25 people per group) whose shared interest in
the local tech community gives them the ability to introduce one
another to valuable new contacts. By meeting on a regular basis,
the individuals within each group will get to know one another,
talk about their businesses, share leads and develop a business
referral network.
- Meet
the Members
Held every six to eight weeks, this is a breakfast series where
you can network, and listen to local technology leaders as they
share their expertise and war stories on topics as wide-ranging
as mergers, layoffs, repositioning your company, and international
business. These events are open to everyone.
-
Members
Database
\\A MEMBERS ONLY benefit\\
A valuable list of GBTC's 300+ member organizations - and everything
you would ever need to know about them: key contacts, email addresses,
phone numbers, industry and URLs, all in an easy-to-use format
that can be searched by name, industry or location.
- Press
Leads
\\A MEMBERS ONLY benefit\\
Reporters regularly source the GBTC's Members E-mail list looking
for leads on stories that range on everything from technology
expertise to examples of technology in use - a great opportunity
for GBTC members to demonstrate their knowledge and gain visibility.
- PR
Toolbox
This is an online treasure chest of information on public relations.
Everything you need to know from finding the right reporter, grabbing
their attention, preparing for the interview and maximizing your
PR is here. A MEMBERS ONLY benefit - only members can search the
comprehensive database of Baltimore-Washington media that cover
technology, specifying the reporter's area of interest and preferred
means of contact.
- Success
Stories
\\A MEMBERS ONLY benefit\\
The easiest way of all to generate publicity for your organization.
Every week the GBTC posts news about a member's new client relationship,
product release, award or other positive development. Stories
are also archived on the GBTC Web site, providing a wealth of
information to anyone who wants to know what's happening in Greater
Baltimore's tech community.
- TechNite
TechNite is the signature event of the GBTC and the region's premier
technology night out. Drawing more than 1,000 entrepreneurs, technies,
nontechies, manufacturers, executives, students, scientists, politicians,
service providers and more, TechNite has become the region's largest
technology/business event. The combination of a high-energy program,
dinner, intensive networking time, and the announcement of Baltimore's
Extraordinary Technology Advocate (the BETA Award) instills pride
in the region and calls attendees to action to make positive change
in their businesses and the tech community. Email:events@gbtechcouncil.org
for more information.
- TechTalk
\\A MEMBERS ONLY benefit\\
Do you have an opinion on a topic affecting the tech or business
community in Greater Baltimore? If so, and if you're a GBTC member,
you may be able to guest author a column in The Daily Record and
boost your own reputation as an expert in your field. Contact
Melanie Kelleher
for more information.
- Wine
Tasting
GBTC Wine Tastings are held every quarter and feature ten (10)
"guest pourers" from regional technology companies. Our pourers,
in a casual, low-pressure atmosphere, introduce their company,
and a wine, to more than 150 guests that stop by for a sample.
