Dr. April L. Young
April L. Young is Managing Director of Comerica Bank's Mid-Atlantic South Region Technology and Life Sciences Division. In that role, she is responsible for developing and managing the bank's portfolio of technology company clients in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast from offices in Reston, Virginia; Durham, North Carolina; and Atlanta, Georgia. The Technology and Life Sciences Division provides unique credit and banking services to professionally backed and managed technology companies throughout the U. S. Dr. Young serves on the advisory boards of several early stage technology companies, including DreamLabs, LaunchFuel, My Job Coach and Credible Wireless. She is also a director of several non-profit organizations, including the Mid-Atlantic Venture Association and the International Economic Development Council. Prior to joining the bank, Dr. Young was founding executive director of the Potomac KnowledgeWay Project, a non-profit, leadership organization designed to help greater Washington become a global leader in digital information products and services. The project served as a catalyst to help the greater Washington region build on its strengths in communications, computing and content. Among her achievements at KnowledgeWay are completing a successful $5 million development campaign, marketing the project's vision and mission to the region's business community, and implementing the project's four core programs. Previously, Dr. Young served as senior fellow for Regional Economic Development at George Mason University's Institute for Public Policy and served as the first director of the Northern Virginia Roundtable. Prior to her association with GMU, Dr. Young was the director of the Virginia Department of Economic Development, where she lead the Commonwealth's domestic and international marketing program from offices in Richmond, Brussels and Tokyo. Earlier in her career, she served as senior vice president of NVRDevelopment, Inc., as the executive director of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority and director of Economic Development for the city of St. Louis, Mo. Dr. Young holds bachelors and masters degrees in urban and regional planning from George Washington University as well as a Ph.D. in public policy analysis from Saint Louis University. She is married to Robert Kelly and the mother of a teenage son. In her spare time, she plays golf and enjoys being a "hockey mom."

Larry Fiorino, CPA

Larry Fiorino founded G1440, Inc. in April 1998 with no outside capital and no office space. He started the company with his savings, a mobile telephone, a laptop and a Chevy Tahoe.

From this small beginning, today G1440, Inc. has over 60 employees and has served over 500 clients including The National Aquarium in Baltimore, Deutche Banc Alex Brown, Crown Central Petroleum, Johns Hopkins University, Sinclair Broadcast Group, CBS Radio, Starbucks Coffee, MileOne, Comcast and Warner Brothers.

G1440 offers technology development, marketing & design and technology staffing services. When working with G1440's clients, Larry's primary focus is helping companies use information technology as a competitive tool to generate revenue and cut costs.

Larry began his career in accounting and moved into technology during his 5-year career in the Management Consulting Group of Price Waterhouse. A 15-year veteran of the information technology industry, Larry spent 4 years as the National Vice President of Systems and Technology for The Ryland Group where he managed a staff of 100 to provide technology to the 2,300 employees of Ryland Homes, Ryland Mortgage and Cornerstone Title. Larry graduated from Towson University in 1984 with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting, has an MBA with concentration in Management Information Systems from Loyola College and is a CPA in Maryland.

Larry serves on numerous boards including The Board of the Emerging Technology Centers, The Greater Baltimore Technology Council, The Mayor's Technology Advisory Board, The Columbia Foundation Board, Towson University's College of Business and Economics Board and the University of Maryland's Library Advisory Board.

Larry was named in the Baltimore Business Journals "40 under 40" Listing - recognized by Baltimore Business Journal as one of Greater Baltimore's Emerging Leaders and was named a "Revolutionary" by the Greater Baltimore Tech Council, a title reserved for individuals making strides to put the Baltimore region on the map as a viable area for technology companies. While at Ryland, Larry was named to the Information Week 500 for leading them to being one of the Top 500 companies in the US for their use of technology.

Larry appears every Tuesday morning and Saturday Evening on Fox news as a technology reporter and has a weekly column in the Daily Record.

Barbara Dreyer, President

Ms. Dreyer most recently served as chief operating officer and co-founder of Ntercept Communications, an online market research company that also operated a site for political issues and was one of the top 500 web sites during 2000. She has held a number of senior management positions in start-ups that were sold to Motorola, MailWell, Union Carbide and Agency.com. She was a Partner with New Enterprise Associates, one of the nation's premier venture capital firms. Dreyer has taught at the university level and has been active in the development of distance learning technologies. She serves on the Board of Visitors for the University of Maryland University College, a leading international provider of distance learning degrees and on the Board of Visitors of Towson University, a leading teacher training institution.

Steve Walker

Steve Walker is President of Steve Walker & Associates and Managing Partner of Walker Ventures, an early stage venture capital fund specializing in the Mid Atlantic region.

Previously, Steve was the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Trusted Information Systems, Inc. (TIS), which he founded in 1983. Before its purchase by Network Associates, TIS had become a publicly traded company, employing more than 350 people with offices throughout the world.

Prior to TIS, Steve had a 22-year career with the Department of Defense at the National Security Agency, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency and the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Steve was a member of a team that developed the ARPAnet, the breakthrough packet switching system that evolved into the Internet. He is nationally recognized for his pioneering work on the DoD Computer Security Initiative, establishment of the National Computer Security Center and the Defense Data Network.

Steve is currently the chairman of the Technology Leadership Consortium, a volunteer group of leaders of technology organizations across the region. In that role he is leading the Informatics Coalition, an effort to recognize the significance of informatics in all aspects of our region’s development. www.informaticscoalition.com.

Steve received the Secretary of Defense Meritorious Civilian Service Award and the first National Computer System Security Award. He also received the KPMG High Technology Entrepreneur Award and the Greater Baltimore Technology Council’s “Baltimore’s Extraordinary Technology Advocate” (BETA) Award. Steve is a member of Board of the Maryland Technology Development Corporation and the Greater Baltimore Technology Council as well as many private company Boards of Directors and several university Boards of Visitors.

Steve holds an MSEE from University of Maryland College Park and BSEE from Northeastern University. He has testified often before the U.S. Congress and is widely acknowledged as an expert and leader in information security technology and policy.
