As
the Patent Reform Act of 2007 inches closer to reality, now is the
time to get informed on what the implications could be for your
company. Proposed changes include the implementation of a first-to-file
patent application process, limitations on patent lawsuit damages,
and the creation of an administrative patent review and mediation
board. These changes are seen as weakening patent protection, stifling
innovation, and will have significant ramifications on future research
and development, specifically in the biotechnology industry. We
will also be discussing some Supreme Court cases from last year
that have a significant impact on small company operations.
Join
us on May 21st to find out more about Patent Reform. The discussion
will focus on two areas: (1) the Patent Reform Act in its current
form, the changes that it might undergo as it moves through Congress
and its potential effects on companies; and (2) how recent caselaw
from the Supreme Court and the Federal Circuit affect how biotech
and pharma companies should conduct business. This is your opportunity
learn, listen and ask questions from our panel of experts on a subject
that will affect how you do business.
Panel:
- Padmanabh
("Pad") P. Bhatt, Ph.D., Vice President, Pharmaceutical Sciences,
Supernus Pharmaceuticals
- Chris
Jeffers, Ph.D., J.D., Attorney, Connolly Bove Lodge and Hutz,
LLP
Here's
your opportunity to learn from bio executives and experts through
a moderator guided interactive discussion. Attendees will be asked
to share their own experiences -- the good, the bad and what they
have learned along the way. So be prepared to share and ask questions.
"The Insider" was created to provide peer to peer learning
through discussion guided by an expert. This is your chance to see
behind the curtain and get an insiders view of how others are tackling
business challenges.
