Elevating Your Elevator Speech

On April 22nd, 2010 Dave Sherman a professional speaker, trainer and bestselling author on the topic of networking helped GBTC members answer the question “When someone asks what you do for a living, how do you answer?” Through a series of examples and exercises, Mr. Sherman showed attendees how to avoid babbling out the first thing that comes to mind and how to develop a finely crafted message that will make people stop and take notice.  Some of the key take aways from this workshop were:

  • How to distinguish the difference between features and benefits for your customer? - Customers don’t care about features, they care about how those features are going to benefit them.
  • How to grab the attention of your listener?
  • How to engage your listener?
  • How to increase your level of commonality and likability with others?

all in 30 seconds…
